Dear John (2010), Lasse Hallstrom

Genre: Drama, Romance
Overall Rating:
(out of 5)
I was pretty upset with this movie.  Mind you, my mother and grandmother loved it... but as for me?  AGH! YOU'RE KILLING ME.  For one, Tatum really pissed me off... this is a ROMANCE, for God's sake, the hero is supposed to be LOVABLE. He doesn't have any expression, its impossible to get attached, and the only entertainment comes from the fact that you're constantly saying "wtf?!"

The Story:

1 Point: Unpredictable
1 Point: OMGZ
While on break, a solder falls in love with a local girl and keeps in touch through letters for over a year.  He comes back, finally, and has to make the choice between staying with her and going back on another war contract.

John Tyree (Channing Tatum): Terrible, terrible actor.  AGH.  The soldier.
Savannah Curtis (Amanda Seyfried): I feel bad bashing this movie... I really like Amanda Seyfried.  She was probably one of the only good parts of this film.  She's the heroine.
