Sharp Objects (2006 Novel), Gillian Flynn

Overall Rating:
(out of 5)
I have fallen in love with this book. Its risqué, its out there, its CRAZZY! I found myself constantly reading this book. If you don't have a problem with taboo material, or perhaps even enjoy a read about such things, this book is definitely for you!
When my teacher recommended it to me, I thought it'd be one of those typical murder mystery stories... but its not. Its much more (imo). It's deep, I swear lol.

The Story:
(out of 5)
A reporter, with some serious personal and mother issues, is sent back to her hometown to investigate the murders of two young girls who both had their teeth missing.

Characters:
(out of 5)
Camille Preaker: The reporter, who grew up in a small town with a rich family. Her sister died when she was young, and she's never fully gotten over it.
Amma: Camille's half-sister. Despite being only 13, she has rather large breasts, dresses daintily, flirts with everyone, and is very manipulative.
Adora: Camille & Amma's mother.

Believability:
(out of 5)
Well there's always murders, they're not really that hard to believe. And this isn't really that outlandish of a murder either. Its the characters that really make this story and, oh boy, are they horrifically believable.

Weight:
(out of 5)
I suppose I wasn't left with any real "life-changing" information, but you can relate to the characters, and you're likely to never forget the story.

Style:
(out of 5)
Flynn is an amazing writer, and keeps you locked in. She's not too ornate or descriptive, but just enough so. She has a lovely imagination, and isn't afraid to "go there."
